Find materials newly added to our collection

It's possible now to search our catalog for any kind of item newly added to our collection. You can create your own "New Acquisitions" lists each month, for example, to scan for books or media items that may interest you.

On the catalog's initial search screen, enter the year and month for which you'd like to see our new acquisitions (data is available starting from May 2007). For example, June 2007 would be 200706. Next, under Field to search, choose New Records. Click on Go.

You receive a very long list of more than 250 items added to our collection just in the month of June! Probably you will want to refine this search to look for more specific categories of material.

For example, you can search just certain subsets or sub-collections within our Library. Find the drop-down menu called Base to search.

Using this menu, you can choose to search only for print materials such as books and periodicals (Main Library only); you can choose the Instructional Resource Center collection where we house all nonprint media items and curriculum; you can choose curriculum materials only (All Curriculum); or, just Sermons. Try one of these searches. You will receive a list of all materials in that category received and cataloged by our Library in the month of June 2007.

You can even target your search more precisely, if you want to find material in a certain format -- DVDs, for instance. Look at the options listed under Limit search to :

The drop-down menu for Material Types allows you to choose any particular media format in our collection, such as CDs, DVDs, videotapes and so on. So, you can generate a list of all the DVDs newly added to our collection in a given month. We added 34 new DVD recordings in June 2007.

It's even possible to use our Advanced Search page to search for new materials about a certain topic. For example :

This search will give you a list of books and periodicals added to our collection in June 2007 that pertain to Old Testament studies.

Once your list is generated, you can simply read it, print it, email it to yourself or save it in other ways (see Print or save your search results).

Please note that this method of searching brings up a list of all items added to our collection in a chosen month, regardless of publication date. So, if a book was first published in 1980 and we just bought the book or received it as a gift, cataloged it and added it to our collection in June 2007, it will appear in your new acquisitions search for June 2007. We often add classic works, replacement copies, and other materials created some time ago. Most of the materials on your list will be recently published or produced, but not all of them, and that is why! They will appear on your list ordered by publication date (then by author). So, the items listed first will be the ones most recently published.
