Resource:
  Fast Forms for Youth Ministry

by Lee Sparks
Thom Schultz Publications, 1994.

  1. What is the purpose of this resource?
This resource is designed to provide youth leaders with a variety of ready-to-copy forms in order to make youth ministry planning easier and more effective.  It includes common forms for the following categories: employment, parents, volunteers, meetings, trips and retreats, fund raising, planning, communications, and records.  Each form has a brief paragraph of description for usage and possible modifications.

  2. How does this resource define youth ministry?  What are the key elements of youth ministry in this resource?
This resource is unique in that it is a very practical and specific resource designed to assist those engaged in youth ministry.  It recognizes that youth ministry involves administrative tasks and paper work and provides common forms in order to help youth leaders streamline their work.
  3. How are youth defined? (age group)
Youth are not defined as a specific age group in this resource.
  4. What understanding of young people is present in this resource?
Again, this resource does not define or characterize young people in any particular manner.
  5. Do you see any particular theological perspective or agenda within this material?  If so, what is it?
The material presented in this resource is simply objective and practical.  There is no theological perspective present.
  6. How could this resource be used and by whom?
This resource is intended for youth leaders or any persons involved in a church’s youth ministry.  This could include volunteers, a youth minister, church office staff, a youth council, search committee, and even youths.
  7. What is included when you purchase this resource?  What is the cost of this resource?
The cost of this resource is unavailable to the reviewer.  Included is the one book.
  8. What is your overall evaluation of the resource?  (strengths and weakness, etc.)
The resource is a little old so some of the forms may need to be revised or at least re-examined for one’s own context (especially those regarding liability and employment as laws may have changed).  Overall, this resource provides such a large number and variety of ready-to-copy forms, sample letters, checklist, and inventories that it should be able to assist any leader in any church work more efficiently and save some time.
